In this assignment, you create a Rhetorical Analysis of a film from PBS Frontline. Specifically, you will answer several questions and post your answers in the Module Four Discussion Forum. In the same Discussion Forum, You will also respond to another student’s post. It is time now to apply what you are learning about writing and research from our text. 

To prepare for this assignment, watch one film from PBS Frontline that is no older than ten years. This means that if we are in the year 2019, you should not choose a film that is from 2008 or before. Choose a film that interests you. There are hundreds from which to choose.

Answer the following questions:

1. Write a one paragraph summary of the film. Paste the link to the video and provide the title of the video at the beginning of your paragraph.

2. Regarding the film, what information or features cue you in to the fact that this is a documentary film about a newsworthy issue? In other words, how does the way in which this director uses elements such as cinematography, music, narration, interviews, etc., indicate the genre of the film?

These
questions are designed as preparation for the Major Project. 
Working through them should help you clarify your understanding of
fantasy literature, and focus your ideas and your secondary reading.
 This assignments asks 3 broad questions, which can apply to
any of the texts in the unit.

You
should engage with at least 3 texts discussed in the
unit: Questions 1, 2 and 3 must not use the same text. 

You
should write three short essay answers of 500 words
each in response to Questions 1, 2, and 3 and an
annotated bibliography of up to 500 words for Question 4.

Answers
for Questions 1, 2, and 3 must use at least one (1) relevant
secondary source (Study Guides, lectures and
tutorials/discussions do not count as secondary sources. Please
use some of the materials in the relevant Further Reading sections, they
are sufficient secondary sources, but you can do your own research as
long as you use scholarly sources).

You
are required to comply with the word limit. This encourages you to
be succinct, precise and clear, and they also provide a good indicator of
the depth to which you are expected to go.

The word
count includes the main text, including all in-text references and
quotations (short and long/block), but not the cover page and the
list of works cited. The word count is taken from the first word of the
introduction to the last word of the conclusion.

10%
word limit margin applies for each answer (10% margin: min. 450 –
550 max).

Your
answers should follow the requirements of academic writing including the
formal tone and referencing conventions of MLA style.

Begin
a new page to answer each question, and identify it by its
number.  You can also copy out the question if you wish, and

the fantasy texts studied this trimester engage with one of
the following ideas: heroism, journey, world building, or social
issues? Discuss in relation to one (1) of the texts studied
this trimester and use at least one (1) secondary source. (The chosen
text for this answer must be different from the texts chosen for
Questions 1 and 3).

3. Choose one of the following themes: quest,
magic, war, the supernatural, and explain how it is treated in one of
the fantasy texts studied this trimester. Discuss in relation to one
(1) of the texts studied this trimester and use at least
one (1) secondary source. (The chosen text for this answer
must be different from the texts chosen for Questions 1 and 2).

4. Write a 500-word
annotated bibliography for three (3) journal
articles or book chapters that relate to the questions for
Assignment 2: Major Project.  In your annotated bibliography, summarise
each item’s argument, and identify its use for your Major
Project.  You may draw on the readings provided in the unit,
or have no more than two readings found through your own research.
