Senior year is a challenging year to for many students. The work isn’t the only issue students face.Students are at an age, where responsibilities and making decisions are falling into play. One of those decisions is College. Applying first and then stressing about the acceptance letter coming in the mail. High Schools pushes that decision on students continuously. With all that said would you personally agree that taking a year break is good for students?
I didn’t think that I would go straight to college when I graduated .Although I knew I wanted to go to college to pursue my career.I wanted to work more, live a little and take a break from all the school work which included time studying. All of my friends had a different path instead ,they were diving right into college. My friend Bailey had her career all mapped out and she already had her plans in motion. I couldn’t wait around and watch my friends get ahead and start their career before me.So I decided when I graduated High School in June the following Fall I begin the next chapter right here at Horry Georgetown Technical College.

Students may choose to take a gap year simply because maybe they grew up in a strict environment. They may wanna have fun with friends and live life to the fullest before they start the real world.Students coming out of High School is more likely burned out with homework, tests, quizzes and studying. Taking a break would give them time to relax and that way they can enter college ready to learn .Working to afford a place to live in while trying to save money for college tuition. Imagining that would be difficult to overload themselves with a ton of responsibilities. By working helps you learn and interpret how to manage your finances. Student like to volunteer so they can do something good for the community. That’s not all their gaining, their showing others their hard work ,their dedication and gaining learning skills that could really come in handy in college and in their work force. Individuals may wanna go into the military after high school. That’s a noble choice. The military will grant them the opportunity to serve our country and to further their education that is paid for.
Which do you believe is the better choice. I believe taking a gap year is good for students. Health wise, financially and obtaining skills. Just because they take a year off doesn’t mean their not going back. If individuals wanna pursue their dreams and career they will do what they have to do to make that happen.
My College Tuition Payment
I am extremely honored to be the recipient of this year’s Businesswoman of the Year award, sponsored by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. I am truly humbled, as well, to be standing here in the company of all of the other nominees, who are all deserving of recognition for their achievements.
I am grateful to have been recognized for my work. I have faced many challenges and I have fought my way through adversity along the way, but each of these challenges only strengthened my character and my resolve to become the best I can be. As a result, today I am a woman who knows exactly what she wants to achieve; a woman who sets goals and does not let go of those goals until she has achieved them.

As the first member of my family to go to college, it wasn’t always an easy road to travel. While attending night classes, I also had to hold down a full-time job during the day to pay my family’s bills and to help pay my college tuition. Once I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, I still had a long road ahead of me. Starting my own business was difficult, and I faced many obstacles, failures and setbacks along the way. There were times when I didn’t think I had the strength to go on, but I stayed focused on my goals and I powered through. I didn’t do it without help at the beginning of my journey, however, and I couldn’t do it without help today, either. This award would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of those who have taken this journey with me and helped me so immeasurably along the way: my colleagues, for their hard work and dedication to my cause; my family and friends, for their ongoing support and for allowing me to believe it was possible, and even my rivals, who, whether they know it or not, challenged me to keep going when the going was toughest! From all of you, I have received the inspiration and support I needed to achieve my dreams, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My sincere thanks also to the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and to each one of you for helping me to be here tonight, proudly receiving this award as a mark of my hard work and achievements. For me, this award is not the end of my journey; it is only the beginning. I promise to keep working hard and to do my very best, and I hope to see you all here next year!
